Can an artiste be more powerful than a political office holder who is more respected in her country and in the diaspora?
This above question has to do with the Nigeria’s Finance Minister, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, who delivered a speech at the convocation ceremony at Babcock University, Ilisan Remo, Ogun State, penultimate Sunday.
Iweala, while addressing the 1,544 graduating students of the institution, was rudely interrupted by the loud noise that accompanied Davido’s sudden arrival at the event, pissing his father off.
The AYE crooner’s dramatic entrance while the special guest of honour was delivering her speech held the audience spell-bound that the Minister had to pause her speech and watch the students celebrate the artiste’s arrival who happens to be part of the graduating students with a degree in Music.
To show his respect to the embarrassed Finance Minister, Davido’s father, Chief Deji Adeleke, who was also present on the occasion, had to walk his son out for there to be calmness.
Davido’s spokesman, Kamal, said what happened was beyond the musician’s control, “but he still obeyed his father and all ended well”, he said.
