Lagos And Ondo States Government warns against jungle justice

The Lagos and Ondo State Government on Friday, warned that perpetrators of jungle justice in the two states would be apprehended and brought to book.
Mr Ade Ipaye, the state Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Ade Ipaye, gave the warning in a statement issued in Lagos.
While he Ondo State Commission For Police gave the warning during a media Radio Programme in Akure.
According to them, the practice of lynching suspected criminals would not be condoned by the authorities irrespective of the offences the suspects might have committed.
They both noted that the warning was necessitated by recent media reports that some persons were attacked in the state based on mere allegations of kidnapping, stealing and ritual killings.
‘The government totally condemns these attacks as the suspects could be wrongly accused.
In Akure, a public servant was mistaken beaten by the agree mob before his wife came to his rescue.
Police Spokesman, Wole Ogodo also said, “Even if they did commit the alleged offences, there is a process for prosecuting and showing evidence in court so that proven criminals can be properly punished according to the law,”
