Sonia: Am Sonia Jonathan, an Inspirational singer And Nollywood movie actress.
Pye: Where are you from?
Sonia: Am from Anambra state, based in Portharcourt
Pye: When did you started acting?
Sonia: I started 2012 April
Pye: What is the title of the first movie you acted in?
Sonia: The return of the anti christ babies. Followed by 'street boys" which is still in d market now. The return of the antichrist babies, was produced by Mike mills And directed by Alex joseph.
Pye: Which school did you finished from and why did you combine acting and singing together?
Sonia: I finished from uniport,I Studies English. (Smile)I started as a singer,I sang at a young age, was playing session,with a particular band group known as "Onyeoma band' in Anambra, I also did back up. While I was singing then,I did stage performance. Even in uniport as an English student, we did a course on theater art And directing,These made me to have an interest in acting.
Pye: What inspires you to go into movies and music at the same time?
Sonia: What inspired me to venture into both,was because I love entertainment on general. I hv a registered entertainment outfit know as Chika Jonathan entertainment company. I have my own music studio,And I also do adverts And others.
Pye: How did you overcome initial challenges in the industry?
Sonia: At first in the Movie industry, it wasn't easy at all,but I started by going to auditions,which gave me my 1st role in my 1st movie, from there I found my way with everyone. In music,it wasn't so easy as I was duped several tyms by people dat claimed to help me with my promotions,but at last ,I got my way with some media And fans.
Pye: What challenges are you facing currently?
Sonia:
Sonia: The challenges am facing currently in the movie industry is working so much with little or No payment, And most producers call us to work for them only for them not to put the movies in the market, as for my music,I still have the problems of getting a link to MTVBASE And other cable stations,which is my dream
Pye: What has kept you going?
Sonia: The support of everyone around me Especially my husband has kept me going,with d hope that one day the world will hear about me,After all,every successful man or woman has had there ups And downs
Pye: How do you cope with competition?
Sonia: The way I cope with competition is first of all knowing What I want And going for it,I don't let anyone tell me that am not good enough, I believe that if someone else can do it,I will do it better.I dont look down on anyone.
Pye: Who are your role models?
Sonia: My role model in the nollywood movie industry is Genevieve,and patience Ozokwor,And my role model in hollywood is Sandra Bullocks And Angelina Jolie, while Brandy And Tiwa Savage,is my music role model
Pye: Where will Sonia be five years from now?
Sonia:I see myself in Almost all the movie posters And I see my songs in all d juke boxes And music station .in entertainment magazines And also having my own fashion line
Pye: What would you not be caught wearing?
Sonia: I will never be caught wearing pants And bra or seen being semi Nude
Pye: In Movies or where?
Sonia: (Laughing) Everywhere, both in movies
Pye: Why? Because you are married?
Sonia: Not really, I hv never been a fan of nudity,not that am judging anyone wearing them,but because I love to b my kids role model,And I wouldn't want my Daughter walking down the street naked. It's all for my kids
Pye: What advice would you give your fans?
Sonia: I would advice my fans to be themselves And not live in another persons shadow just because they want to be like that persons ,And they should not allow anyone kill your dreams by making you feel inferior,just keep on keeping on. You should not allow anyone to kill your dreams by making u feel so inferior
