The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, hold a World Press Conference and National Stakeholders’ Meeting to mark 100 days to the 2027 General Election.
The event, scheduled for the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre (BAT-ICC), Abuja, will provide an opportunity for the electoral commission to update Nigerians and key stakeholders on preparations for the elections.
According to a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary and Media Adviser to the INEC Chairman, Adedayo Oketola, the Commission will provide updates on the voters’ register, candidate nominations, logistics and other critical measures aimed at safeguarding the electoral process.
The conference will be addressed by the INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, SAN, alongside other key stakeholders involved in the electoral process.
The accompanying national stakeholders’ meeting is expected to bring together political party leaders, security agencies under the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES), members of the diplomatic corps, development partners, civil society organisations, election observer groups, disability rights advocates, religious and traditional leaders, youth organisations and media executives.
INEC said the engagement underscores its commitment to transparency, public communication and collaboration with stakeholders ahead of the 2027 elections.
The event is scheduled to commence at 10:00 a.m., with guests expected to be seated by the same time.
The conference will be broadcast live on major national television networks and streamed on INEC’s official social media platforms.
Accredited media representatives and invited guests are required to present their invitation cards or accreditation badges at designated security checkpoints.
The 2027 General Election is scheduled for January 16, 2027, with the October 6 engagement marking the 100-day countdown to the polls.
