The FCT Police Command has commenced a discreet investigation into a suspected culpable homicide following the death of a hotel staff member during an alleged altercation at a hotel in Utako District, Abuja.
The incident occurred at about 5:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, after the Utako Divisional Police Headquarters received a distress report about suspicious noise and activities on the hotel's third floor.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, responding officers found two men with marks of violence in Room 301. They were identified as Samuel Net, a tiler hired by the hotel, and Joseph Terdoo, a hotel staff member.
Terdoo, who was found unconscious on the floor, was immediately rushed to Wuse District Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival, while Net was also found with marks of violence on his body.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the two men had disagreed, leading to a physical confrontation during which Samuel allegedly pushed Joseph, causing him to fall and hit his head against a wooden object.
The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, has advised residents to shun violence and avoid taking the law into their own hands, urging them to embrace peaceful and diplomatic approaches to resolving disputes.
The Command also urged residents to report suspicious activities through its emergency lines: 08032003913 and 08061581938.
SP Adeh said investigations into the incident were ongoing.
