Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA (JTF NW OPFY), have rescued 21 kidnapped civilians following a fierce encounter with terrorists in Kangiwa Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The operation, conducted on September 14, 2026, followed a distress call reporting the abduction of civilians from Fafala Village.
Acting on credible intelligence, troops of Sector 2 launched a fighting patrol towards Fafala and Dandikwa communities. The troops subsequently made contact with the terrorists, leading to a heavy exchange of gunfire.
The sustained military response reportedly forced the terrorists to withdraw in disarray, after which the troops exploited the area and successfully rescued 21 kidnapped victims.
The rescued civilians have since been reunited with their families.
The Joint Task Force commended members of the public for their continued support and urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest security agency.
The development underscores the importance of timely intelligence and community cooperation in ongoing efforts to counter terrorist and criminal activities across the North-West.
