The Service Chiefs have joined the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, CON, for the launch of the Armed Forces of Nigeria Personnel Online Discount Shop, a new digital welfare initiative aimed at improving access to essential goods for military personnel and their families.
The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu; Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas; and Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, participated in the launch held on Thursday, 24 September 2026, at Defence Headquarters, Abuja.
The initiative provides serving and retired members of the Armed Forces, veterans and their families with access to a range of essential goods at preferential prices through an online platform.
The scheme was formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding between Defence Headquarters and Zinox Group, marking a strategic partnership between the military and the private sector to leverage digital technology in strengthening personnel welfare.
Speaking at the event, the initiative was presented as part of broader efforts to enhance the wellbeing and quality of life of members of the Armed Forces, recognising welfare as an important component of sustaining a motivated and mission-ready force.
A major highlight of the event was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Defence Headquarters and Zinox Group to formalise the implementation of the online discount scheme. The initiative reflects ongoing efforts by the Armed Forces to strengthen personnel welfare through digital innovation and strategic private-sector partnerships, while extending practical support to serving personnel, veterans and their families.
For the Nigeria Armed Forces, the initiative complements the welfare-focused leadership of all the Service Chiefs, with emphasis on improving the living conditions of personnel and their families.
The online discount platform is expected to provide beneficiaries with greater convenience and affordability while reducing some of the financial pressures associated with the purchase of essential household goods.
The launch further highlights the Armed Forces' growing adoption of digital solutions and partnerships with the private sector to support personnel welfare and institutional efficiency.
