The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, has visited the Emir of Minna, Alhaji (Dr.) Umar Farouk Bahago, as well as the families of the deceased and survivor involved in the recent incident in Minna, Niger State.
Audi, who paid the condolence and courtesy visits, commiserated with the affected families and assured them that the Corps would not shield any personnel found culpable in the incident.
The NSCDC CG said justice and transparency would take precedence, stressing that the Corps was fully cooperating with the high-powered investigative committee constituted by the Federal Government under the directive of the Presidency to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
According to him, relevant personnel have already been placed in protective custody to ensure their availability for transparent interrogation and the judicial process.
The Commandant General also joined Muslim faithful in prayers for the repose of the deceased’s soul and for strength for the bereaved families, noting the significance of the third and seventh-day prayers in the Islamic tradition.
Responding on behalf of the traditional institution and the affected families, the Emir of Minna appreciated the NSCDC chief for his personal visit, the swift administrative measures taken and the Corps’ cooperation with the Presidential investigative committee.
