Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has commended troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) for their courage and sustained efforts to restore security across communities in the North-East.
Zulum made the commendation on Monday, August 31, 2026, when he visited the Headquarters of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, after a working visit to 68 Battalion, Nigerian Army, Mallam-Fatori, headquarters of Abadam Local Government Area.
During his engagement with the Theatre Commander, the governor reviewed the security situation around the Mallam-Fatori axis and ongoing efforts to consolidate military gains, protect liberated communities and create the conditions for displaced residents to return home.
He praised the troops for their resilience and commitment to securing border communities, noting the critical role of the military in creating a safe environment for the restoration of civilian life.
Zulum also assured the Theatre Command of the continued support of the Borno State Government, particularly in providing essential requirements needed to strengthen troops’ operational effectiveness.
The discussions also focused on the state government’s renewed drive to accelerate the resettlement of liberated communities across Borno and facilitate the safe and dignified return of refugees from neighbouring countries.
According to the statement by the Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Captain Mohammed Goni, the resettlement efforts are expected to complement the security gains recorded by OPHK through the restoration of essential services, reconstruction of communities and sustainable reintegration of displaced populations.
Earlier at 68 Battalion, Mallam-Fatori, Governor Zulum interacted with the Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Chiwar, senior officers and troops deployed in the area.
He commended their steadfastness in securing the border community and reiterated the state government’s commitment to supporting their operations.
The Theatre Command expressed appreciation for the continued partnership with the Borno State Government, assuring that OPHK would sustain coordinated military operations to protect communities, secure critical infrastructure and facilitate the safe return of displaced persons across the theatre.
