Troops Avert Breakdown of Law and Order Over Farm Destruction in Kaduna Community

Troops of Sector 7, Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), have averted a possible breakdown of law and order following rising tension over the alleged destruction of farms and crops in Fido community, Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The incident occurred on August 24, 2026, when troops responded to reports of alleged farm destruction in the community.

Upon arrival, the troops met residents who were aggrieved over what they described as the continuous destruction of their farms and crops by suspected Fulani herders.

The community members were reportedly mobilising to stage a protest and demand the immediate departure of the Fulani herders from the area.

However, the prompt intervention of the troops helped to calm the aggrieved residents and restore normalcy, preventing the dispute from escalating into a wider confrontation.

Following the intervention, the Village Head of Fido, Mr Zakka Deyeri, and the Fulani Ardo, Umaru Kagoma, were invited to the headquarters of Sector 7 for a peace meeting.

During the meeting, both parties discussed the issues surrounding the dispute and reached an amicable resolution aimed at sustaining peace and preventing further escalation.

Security personnel have since intensified patrols around strategic locations and identified flashpoints within the area to deter criminal elements and prevent any further breakdown of law and order.

The intervention underscores the continued efforts of Operation Enduring Peace to address emerging security threats and maintain peaceful coexistence among communities within its area of responsibility.
