The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has approved a major redeployment of Commissioners of Police (CPs) to state commands and strategic formations across the country as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen operational effectiveness, enhance leadership and advance reforms within the Nigeria Police Force.
The nationwide deployment, which received the approval of the Police Service Commission (PSC), affects eight state commands and several key operational departments at the Force Headquarters and other strategic formations.
The development was announced in a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
Under the new postings, CP Afolabi Wilfred Olutokunbo has been appointed Commissioner of Police for Abia State, while CP Ayodeji Faniyan takes over the Plateau State Command. CP Saka Adewale Ajao has been posted to Bayelsa State, CP Ajo Geoffrey Ordue to Cross River, CP Nanna Oji Ama to Anambra, CP Patrick Daaor to Edo, CP Tani Murtala to Jigawa and CP Samuel Erale to Delta State.
The redeployment also covers several strategic formations, including the Force Intelligence Department (FID), Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Department of Finance and Administration (DFA), Department of Training and Development (DTD), Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU), Police Academy, Police Staff College and Anti-Human Trafficking Units in Abuja, Lagos, Kaduna and Gombe.
Among the notable appointments are CP Yemi John Oyeniyi, who has been deployed to the Intelligence and Training Department of the FID, CP Charles Ezekwesiri Dike to INTERPOL at the FCID, Abuja, CP Taiwo A. Adedeji to the Counter Terrorism Unit at Force Headquarters, Abuja, and CP Mohammed Hassan Ahmed as Deputy Commandant of the Police Staff College, Jos.
Other senior officers redeployed include CP Uduak Ita Otu, CP Abdullateef Ajape Yusuf, CP Ajayi Oluyemi, CP Bolanle Aremu, CP Ibrahim Lukunche Usman, CP Rita Oyintare Oki, CP Ibrahim Umar D. Zungura, CP Nelson Nwamana, CP Akingbade C. Adeyinka, CP Iya Umar Mohammed, CP Darma Nuhu Na’aliyu, CP Mohammed Yakubu and CP Danbaba Mohammed Labbo, who have been assigned to various operational, administrative, training, welfare and investigative departments.
Charging the newly posted Commissioners of Police and other senior officers, IGP Disu urged them to leverage their experience to improve policing, strengthen intelligence-led operations and enhance public confidence in the Force.
“The affected senior officers are to bring their wealth of experience to bear in their new assignments by strengthening intelligence-led policing, enhancing operational effectiveness, promoting professionalism, and deepening community engagement in line with the vision of the Force,” the IGP said.
He also directed the officers to remain committed to protecting lives and property while upholding the highest standards of discipline, accountability and service delivery.
The Nigeria Police Force stated that the redeployment forms part of its broader reform agenda, noting that strategic personnel postings remain critical to improving operational efficiency, strengthening institutional capacity and delivering more effective policing services across the country.
