Governor Ademola Adeleke has been declared the winner of the 2026 Osun State governorship election, securing a total of 511,067 votes to defeat his closest challenger, the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, who polled 444,815 votes.
The election was held across the state on Saturday, August 15, with results declared in the early hours of Sunday by the State Returning Officer, Professor Joshua Ogunwole, Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti.
Adeleke, who contested under the platform of the Accord Party, won in 19 of Osun State’s 30 Local Government Areas, while Oyebamiji secured victory in nine LGAs.
The governor recorded victories in Ede North, Ede South, Ejigbo, Iwo, Egbedore, Ife North, Ife East, Ife Central, Oriade, Ifelodun, Orolu, Ayedaade, Ayedire, Odo Otin, Boluwaduro, Ilesa West, Ifedayo, Osogbo and Ayedire.
Oyebamiji won in Irewole, Isokan, Olorunda, Atakumosa East, Atakumosa West, Ilesa East, Boripe, Irepodun and Obokun.
The African Democratic Congress candidate, Najeem Salaam, finished third with 17,180 votes.
According to the final figures announced by the Returning Officer, 1,010,684 voters were accredited, with 1,005,800 total votes cast. Of these, 985,079 were declared valid, while 20,721 votes were rejected.
Following the signing of the result sheets by representatives of the participating political parties, Professor Ogunwole formally declared Adeleke duly elected and returned him to office for another term.
The declaration brings the electoral process from polling day to its final official outcome, with attention now turning to the detailed results across the 30 LGAs, including vote margins, result-sheet coverage and other data-quality indicators.
