Troops of the 17 Brigade Command have apprehended a notorious bandit leader, Sanusi Maigilas, during an operation in Kurfi Local Government Area of Katsina State.
Maigilas, a prominent bandit leader operating from the Danmusa forest axis, had reportedly been on the military’s radar for some time due to his alleged involvement in criminal activities across parts of Katsina State.
The successful apprehension followed sustained military operations and intelligence-driven efforts aimed at tracking and disrupting the activities of terrorist and bandit groups operating within the state.
The arrest is expected to provide valuable intelligence to ongoing operations against criminal elements and further degrade the operational networks of bandit groups in the North-West.
The military has continued to sustain pressure on terrorist and bandit formations across Katsina State and other parts of the Joint Operations Area, with troops conducting intelligence-led operations to deny criminal groups freedom of movement and restore security to affected communities.
