Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued an abducted Nigerian soldier and a civilian during a fighting patrol at a terrorist enclave in Zamfara State.
The successful rescue operation was carried out on Wednesday, 29 July 2026, by troops deployed at Gwashi while conducting offensive operations against terrorists in the area.
According to a statement by the Media Information Officer of Joint Task Force (North West) Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the troops rescued Lance Corporal Basiru Labbo, who was abducted on 22 July 2026 along the Zuru–Anka Road. Also rescued was Lauwali Dan Ada, a resident of Kasahola Village in Bukkuyum Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The statement noted that both victims were safely evacuated to the troops’ location, where they underwent debriefing, medical evaluation, and other necessary administrative procedures.
Operation FANSAN YAMMA reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining offensive operations against terrorist groups while intensifying rescue efforts to protect lives and restore lasting peace across the North West.
