The Nigeria Police Force has recorded significant operational successes across several states, leading to the neutralisation of two suspected kidnappers, the arrest of 21 criminal suspects, the recovery of seven firearms and 39 rounds of live ammunition, as well as the rescue of 13 kidnapped victims.
The achievements, recorded through intelligence-led operations and collaboration with other security agencies, underscore the Force’s sustained commitment to tackling kidnapping, armed robbery, cultism, cybercrime and other violent crimes across the country.
In Edo State, operatives, working jointly with the Nigerian Army and the Edo State Security Corps, rescued three kidnapped students of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma—Favour Okoroje (21), Precious Balogun (19) and Praise Bagbalo (18). During the operation, two suspected kidnappers were neutralised, while others escaped with gunshot wounds. Security operatives recovered three AK-47 rifles with magazines and 39 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition. A manhunt has been launched to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
In the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), police operatives rescued 24-year-old Deborah Ogila from kidnappers following an intelligence-driven operation in Ara Forest, Nasarawa State. The Command also arrested three suspected members of a notorious one-chance robbery syndicate operating in a navy blue Volkswagen Golf. Recovered exhibits included a knife, screwdriver, rope, scissors, suspected hard drugs, an iron umbrella handle, a female wig and three mobile phones. Police also restored normalcy on the Abuja-Lokoja Highway after resolving a protest by trailer drivers without any loss of life.
In KEBBI State , a combined security team comprising the Police, 36 Police Mobile Force, Civilian Joint Task Force and vigilantes foiled a kidnap attempt, rescuing Hakimin Badariya, Urotu Shehu and members of his family from armed attackers in Birnin Kebbi. Three injured labourers received prompt medical attention while security operatives restored calm in the area.
In Bauchi State, police arrested all seven suspects linked to the violent attack on Rahama House, an off-campus students’ residence, where victims sustained machete injuries and were dispossessed of their mobile phones. The Command also rescued a kidnapped victim, Alhaji Gide Mai Yara, during a coordinated search involving police patrol teams, local hunters and vigilantes.
In Nasarawa State, police operatives arrested six suspected internet fraudsters during a raid on their hideout in Rugan Madaki. Recovered items included one Makarov pistol, four mobile phones, multiple ATM cards and nine laptops, while investigations continue to apprehend other syndicate members.
In Delta State, police arrested two armed robbery suspects along the Asaba-Benin Expressway in collaboration with a civilian anti-cult group. Two locally made pistols and other incriminating items were recovered. Further investigation led to the arrest of an alleged gun runner at a hotel in Ogwashi-Uku.
In Taraba State, police arrested an 18-year-old suspected cultist found in possession of a mini revolver pistol following an altercation at an educational institution. Efforts are ongoing to arrest his fleeing accomplices.
In Gombe State, detectives arrested an 18-year-old homicide suspect over the alleged killing of a teenager during an assault. The walking stick used in the incident was recovered as an exhibit.
In Zamfara State, police tactical teams and Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) personnel responded to intelligence on an improvised explosive device planted along the Kwarin Ganuwa-Keta Road in Tsafe Local Government Area. The operation is aimed at safely detonating the device and preventing casualties.
In Sokoto State, security operatives responded swiftly to a bandit attack in Gundunga Village, recovering two rustled camels while joint teams continue operations to arrest the fleeing attackers and recover additional stolen livestock.
In Niger State, police deployed tactical teams to investigate a violent attack that claimed the lives of three persons in Kadiba Village and also responded to an armed robbery incident in which one victim later died from injuries sustained during the attack.
In Kano State, police operatives were mobilised to Zakawa Community following reports of suspected bandits and cattle rustlers. Security operations remain ongoing to apprehend the suspects and recover any illegal weapons.
