The Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV), Akwa Ibom State Command, has sustained its 24-Day War Against Drug Abuse in Secondary Schools with a sensitisation programme for students of Uyo High School, aimed at curbing drug abuse and cultism among young people.
The initiative, carried out in collaboration with the Safe Schools Ambassadors, focused on educating students about the dangers of substance abuse and cult-related activities, stressing their negative impact on education, health, personal development, family life, and community security.
During the interactive session, facilitators urged the students to resist peer pressure, make responsible choices, and uphold values of discipline, integrity, and good citizenship. They also explained the legal, social, and health consequences associated with drug abuse and cultism.
Students actively participated by asking questions and sharing their views, while organisers encouraged them to serve as ambassadors of peace by reporting suspicious activities and promoting safety within their schools and communities.
The campaign is part of POCACOV’s ongoing efforts to prevent youth involvement in crime through awareness, education, and community engagement, with the goal of raising a generation that embraces purpose, rejects crime, and contributes positively to society.
