Troops of the Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have recorded a series of operational successes across the North-East, including the rescue of abductees, the repulsion of an attack by suspected ISWAP terrorists, and the arrest of several suspected terrorist logistics suppliers.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by Captain Mohammed Goni, Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI, the operations form part of sustained intelligence-driven offensives aimed at dismantling terrorist networks and protecting communities in the region
The statement said troops of the 115 Task Force Battalion, while conducting Search and Rescue operations in Askira/Uba Local Government Area of Borno State on July 7, rescued two abductees from a terrorist hideout. Troops also recovered ₦1.2 million suspected to be proceeds of criminal activities, food items, and other logistics believed to support terrorist operations. The rescued victims have been evacuated for medical treatment and psychosocial care.
In another operation, troops stationed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Logomani in Ngala Local Government Area successfully repelled a coordinated attack by suspected ISWAP fighters. Although the insurgents briefly breached a section of the base’s defensive perimeter, troops regrouped swiftly, launched a counter-offensive, inflicted heavy casualties on the attackers, and forced them to retreat with gunshot wounds.
The military, however, confirmed that one soldier was killed during the encounter, while two gun trucks and some combat equipment were damaged. Reinforcements have since been deployed to the location, with exploitation operations continuing to strengthen the base’s security.
Elsewhere, troops of the 232 Battalion acting on intelligence arrested a suspected notorious criminal in Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa State. A follow-up operation led to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, two magazines, and 28 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.
Similarly, troops of the 149 Battalion apprehended two suspected terrorist logistics suppliers in Mobbar Local Government Area of Borno State. Recovered items included cash, a Volkswagen Golf vehicle, construction materials, household items, and other supplies allegedly intended for terrorist groups.
In Wulgo, troops of the 24 Task Force Brigade, supported by members of the Civilian Joint Task Force, conducted clearance operations on terrorist enclaves, recovering a sack of assorted illicit drugs abandoned by fleeing insurgents.
The military also disclosed that six suspected ISWAP members and their families surrendered to troops of the 192 Battalion in Sector One after fleeing terrorist enclaves in Guduf Bubayagwa and Chikide on the Mandara Mountains in Gwoza Local Government Area. Troops recovered ₦1,541,500, two Tecno mobile phones, and other
items from the group.
In a related development, troops at the Molai checkpoint intercepted another suspected terrorist logistics supplier transporting a large quantity of medical supplies without proper clearance.
Meanwhile, in Sector Two, troops of the 233 Tank Battalion working alongside local hunters arrested another suspected logistics supplier from Ngirya village in Tarmuwa Local Government Area of Yobe State while conveying five motorcycle tyres believed to be intended for terrorist elements.
Operation HADIN KAI said the latest achievements reflect the effectiveness of sustained military offensives, actionable intelligence, and collaboration among security agencies in disrupting terrorist logistics networks across the North-East.
The Theatre Command reiterated its commitment to continuing Search and Rescue operations until all abducted persons are safely recovered. It also warned individuals involved in supplying food, fuel, construction materials, transport services, or any other form of logistics to terrorist groups to desist immediately, stressing that anyone found aiding or collaborating with terrorists would be identified, arrested, and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
