Nigerian Army Disowns Fake Recruitment Advert, Warns Nigerians Against Fraudsters

The Nigerian Army has disowned a fake recruitment advertisement inviting applications for the Short Service Combatant Commission (SSCC) Course 50/2027, warning Nigerians not to fall victim to fraudsters.

In a statement issued by the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Colonel Appolonia Anele, the Army said the recruitment advertisement circulating on social media and other online platforms did not originate from the Nigerian Army.

The statement described the advert as false, fraudulent and misleading, urging members of the public to disregard it completely.

The Army specifically cautioned prospective applicants against applying through, patronising or making payments to any individual, group or website claiming to conduct recruitment on its behalf.

It stressed that all Nigerian Army recruitment and commissioning exercises are conducted free of charge, transparently and strictly on merit, adding that no authorised agent has been appointed to facilitate recruitment or collect money at any stage of the process.

According to the Army, official recruitment announcements are published only through national newspapers, its verified social media platforms and other recognised official communication channels.

The statement further revealed that security agencies have been tasked with identifying, arresting and prosecuting those responsible for producing, circulating and using the fake recruitment advertisement to defraud unsuspecting Nigerians.

The Nigerian Army urged members of the public to verify all recruitment information through its official channels and to report any suspicious recruitment activities to the nearest military formation or security agency for prompt investigation and necessary action.
