Nigeria and Tunisia have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations following a high-level meeting between the Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, and her Tunisian counterpart, H.E. Mohamed Ali Nafti, on the sidelines of the 49th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council of the African Union.
According to a statement by the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, the bilateral meeting focused on expanding political and diplomatic cooperation between both countries through increased engagement and exchange programmes for young diplomats and newly appointed ambassadors.
The two foreign ministers also discussed strategic areas of collaboration aimed at tackling insurgency and other security challenges confronting the region. They underscored the importance of enhanced cooperation in promoting regional peace, stability and collective security.
In addition, both sides explored opportunities for partnership in advancing water, food and energy security, identifying these sectors as critical to achieving sustainable development and improving the well-being of citizens in Nigeria and Tunisia.
The meeting reflects the shared commitment of both countries to deepen diplomatic engagement, strengthen regional cooperation and foster mutually beneficial partnerships across key sectors.
