The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has commenced a three-day capacity-building workshop aimed at strengthening the investigation and prosecution of money laundering cases, enhancing international cooperation, improving the use of financial intelligence, and boosting asset recovery efforts.

The workshop, which opened on Tuesday at the Nigerian Army Resource Centre in Abuja, brought together top NDLEA officials and key stakeholders involved in Nigeria’s anti-money laundering and counter-financing of terrorism efforts.

The Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd.), CON, OFR, was represented at the opening ceremony by the Agency Secretary, Shadrach Haruna.

Speaking on behalf of the NDLEA Chairman, Haruna underscored the importance of strengthening the capacity of investigators and prosecutors to effectively tackle complex financial crimes linked to illicit drug trafficking and other organised criminal activities.

The three-day workshop is expected to enhance collaboration among relevant institutions, improve the use of financial intelligence in criminal investigations, and reinforce Nigeria’s asset recovery framework in line with global best practices.
