The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has successfully carried out a fresh troop relief exercise under Operation FANSAN YAMMA in Zamfara State, reinforcing its commitment to maintaining a highly motivated, resilient and combat-ready force in ongoing counter-terrorism and anti-banditry operations.
SpyeTV News learnt that the exercise is part of the NAF’s operational policy of periodically relieving and replacing frontline personnel deployed across various theatres of operation. The initiative is designed to preserve combat effectiveness, reduce operational fatigue and ensure the continuous delivery of effective air and ground support in defence of Nigeria’s territorial integrity.
Under the leadership of the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, the periodic relief of frontline troops has become a critical component of operational success. The approach recognises that personnel welfare and mission accomplishment go hand in hand. As one contingent concludes its operational deployment and returns for deserved rest and reunites with their families, another team of well-trained personnel has assumed frontline duties with renewed vigour, ensuring uninterrupted operational tempo and sustained pressure on terrorists, bandits and other criminal elements.
The exercise, coordinated by the Directorate of Regiment under the Operations Branch at Headquarters Nigerian Air Force, underscores the Service’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding both the nation and the personnel entrusted with that responsibility.
