Operatives of the Bauchi State Police Command have rescued two kidnapped victims unhurt during a coordinated security operation in Gwamnare Forest, Ningi Local Government Area of the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, said the operation was carried out in line with the directive of the Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, to intensify anti-kidnapping operations in areas experiencing persistent abductions.

According to the Command, the rescue mission followed a situation report received at the Ningi Divisional Police Headquarters on July 1, 2026, prompting the deployment of a joint security team comprising operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU), the Anti-Kidnapping Unit (AKU), officers from the Ningi Division, and Forestry Guards.

The security team advanced through the Rafin Chiyawa axis into Gwamnare Forest, responding to recurring kidnapping incidents in Dogon Ruwa and Rafin Chiyawa villages, both located near the forest.

During the operation, the team successfully rescued two victims identified as 50-year-old Alhaji Yahaya of Masallachi Hamlet, Dogon Ruwa Village, and Alhaji Kabiru of Gwamnare Forest.

Police confirmed that the victims were rescued unharmed, with no casualties recorded among the security personnel or civilians during the operation.

The Command added that efforts are ongoing to locate and rescue other victims believed to be in captivity within the forest.

Commending the courage and professionalism of the joint security team, Commissioner of Police Sani-Omolori Aliyu reaffirmed the Command’s determination to rid Bauchi State’s forests of criminal elements and restore peace to affected communities.

He also reassured residents of Dogon Ruwa, Rafin Chiyawa and surrounding areas that sustained security operations would continue until kidnapping and other violent crimes are eliminated from the state.
