FCT Police Debunks Reports of Attack on Military Officer in Abuja, Says Incident Happened in Nasarawa

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has dismissed reports alleging that a serving military officer, Colonel Abdussalam A. Ude, was attacked by suspected kidnappers within the Federal Capital Territory, clarifying that the incident occurred in neighbouring Nasarawa State.

In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, the Command said investigations ordered by the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, PhD, FCAI, confirmed that the incident took place in Badna, New Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, and not within the jurisdiction of the FCT as widely reported on social media and some news platforms.

According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police directed an immediate and thorough investigation after the reports surfaced, leading to the confirmation of the actual location of the incident.

The Command expressed concern over what it described as the deliberate misrepresentation of the incident by some blogs and media outlets, warning that such inaccurate reports create unnecessary panic, heighten public anxiety, and misinform residents of the nation’s capital.

As a precautionary measure, the FCT Police Commissioner has ordered the deployment of operational and intelligence assets to border communities between the FCT and Nasarawa State to prevent any attempt by criminal elements to infiltrate the Federal Capital Territory or carry out criminal activities.

The Command also condemned the dissemination of false and unverified security-related information, urging journalists, bloggers, and social media users to verify reports with relevant authorities before publication.

It reassured residents that security agencies remain vigilant and encouraged members of the public to remain calm while promptly reporting suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station or through the Command’s emergency lines.
