The Delta State Police Command has arrested 22 suspected drug offenders and rescued two minors during an intelligence-led raid on illicit drug dens and criminal hideouts in Ozoro and Abraka.
The operation, carried out on Monday, July 21, 2026, at about 3:00 p.m., was led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, who coordinated a team of operatives to raid identified drug hotspots in Ofagbe Community, Ozoro, Ekrejeta, and the NUT Area in Abraka following credible intelligence.
According to the Command, the operation resulted in the arrest of 22 suspects, comprising 19 males and three females, for offences related to the sale, possession, and distribution of illicit drugs.
Police also rescued two minors who were found inside a suspected drug den allegedly operated by their father. The children have been placed in protective custody and will be handed over to the Delta State Ministry of Women Affairs for proper care and safeguarding, while investigations continue into the activities of the suspects.
Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, described the presence of minors in an environment linked to illicit drug activities as deeply disturbing.
He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to dismantling drug trafficking networks, protecting vulnerable persons, and sustaining intelligence-led operations aimed at eliminating illicit drug activities and other criminal enterprises across the state.
The Police Commissioner also appealed to parents, guardians, and community leaders to remain vigilant and continue providing credible information to security agencies to support ongoing efforts to combat crime and enhance public safety in Delta State.
