The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Kelvin Aneke, has commended Squadron Leader Festus Chike Ezenyi for his intellectual achievement in authoring the Master of Ceremonies Handbook: A Step-by-Step Guide to Excelling in Event Hosting and Public Speaking, describing the publication as a reflection of the vision, discipline, perseverance and commitment to excellence that the Nigerian Air Force seeks to cultivate among its personnel.
Represented by the Chief of Administration, Air Vice Marshal Sampson Oyekosi, at the public presentation and launch of the handbook held at the NAF Conference Centre and Suites, Abuja, the CAS said the publication exemplifies the Nigerian Air Force's commitment to developing not only operationally proficient personnel but also intellectually vibrant officers who contribute meaningfully to national development through research, innovation and knowledge sharing.
He encouraged officers and airmen to emulate Squadron Leader Ezenyi by documenting their professional knowledge and experiences for the benefit of future generations.
"The Nigerian Air Force remains committed to developing not only operationally proficient personnel but also intellectually vibrant officers capable of contributing meaningfully to national development through research, innovation and knowledge sharing," the CAS stated.
He explained that this commitment informed his decision to write the foreword of the handbook, expressing optimism that the publication would inspire more military personnel to document their professional experiences for the benefit of future generations.
While acknowledging that a handbook on event hosting might initially appear unrelated to military operations, the CAS stressed that effective communication remains central to leadership, command and operational success.
"In today's information environment, strategic communication has become a force multiplier. Beyond our aircraft, platforms and operational capabilities, the effectiveness of the Nigerian Air Force is also reflected in how we communicate our mission, engage stakeholders and project our values," he said.
According to him, every official ceremony, public engagement and briefing provides an opportunity to reinforce public confidence in the Nigerian Air Force through professional communication and strategic messaging.
The CAS commended Squadron Leader Ezenyi for drawing from years of experience in military public relations, protocol and event management to produce what he described as a valuable reference material for masters of ceremonies, protocol officers, public relations practitioners, students and professionals across both public and private sectors.
He urged officers, airmen and airwomen to embrace continuous learning, research and documentation, stressing that enduring institutions preserve not only operational achievements but also documented knowledge for future generations.
Delivering the book review on behalf of the Chief of Civil-Military Relations, Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, the reviewer described the publication as the first comprehensive practical guide of its kind on event hosting and public speaking.
He observed that successful events are remembered largely because of the quality of communication, emphasizing that the Master of Ceremonies serves as the bridge between organisers, participants and audiences while ensuring order, professionalism and adherence to protocol.
According to the reviewer, effective public speaking remains one of the most influential leadership competencies across military operations, diplomacy, governance, education and corporate leadership.
He noted that Squadron Leader Ezenyi wrote from practical experience accumulated over years of distinguished service as a military public relations officer and Press Officer to the Chief of the Air Staff, adding that the handbook captures valuable lessons that might otherwise have remained undocumented.

Also speaking, the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, described the launch as a celebration of intellectual enterprise, professional development and excellence in communication.
He noted that strategic communication has become indispensable to contemporary military operations because it shapes public perception, strengthens institutional credibility, enhances civil-military relations and supports mission accomplishment.
According to him, these responsibilities remain central to the Directorate of Public Relations and Information in projecting the activities and values of the Nigerian Air Force.
Air Commodore Ejodame praised Squadron Leader Ezenyi for transforming years of practical experience into a comprehensive handbook that would benefit masters of ceremonies, public speakers, protocol officers, public relations practitioners, event managers and communication professionals.
He said the publication further demonstrates that the Nigerian Air Force not only develops operationally capable personnel but also encourages scholarship, innovation and intellectual growth.
