The Abia State Police Command has dismantled a suspected criminal camp in Unuobasi Forest, Umunneochi Local Government Area, as part of ongoing efforts to eliminate criminal hideouts across the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Maureen Chioma Chinaka, said the operation was intelligence-driven and successfully disrupted criminal activities in the area.
According to the Command, operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit, working in collaboration with the local security outfit in Umuobasi, carried out the operation on June 28, 2026. During the exercise, the suspected criminal camps were identified and destroyed, while security operatives have continued to monitor the area to prevent the re-establishment of the hideouts.
Commissioner of Police Danladi Isa reaffirmed the Command’s determination to deny criminals any safe haven in Abia State, stressing that security agencies would continue to take the fight directly to criminal enclaves.
He reiterated the Command’s commitment to its constitutional responsibility of preventing crime and apprehending offenders, assuring residents that sustained intelligence-led operations would continue across the state.
The Police also urged members of the public to support security efforts by reporting suspicious persons, activities or security concerns to the nearest police station or through the Command’s emergency hotlines, emphasizing that community partnership remains critical to maintaining peace and security in Abia State.
