Troops of the 12 Brigade have conducted a coordinated offensive operation against suspected criminal elements and terrorist remnants operating in parts of Kogi State, following intelligence-driven directives and extensive surveillance efforts.

According to military sources, the operation, which commenced at approximately 10:00 a.m. on June 17, was initiated based on intelligence reports concerning the evacuation of injured members of a suspected terrorist group linked to Kachallah Danguntu, as well as subsequent actions targeting another criminal network associated with Kachallah Baccujo.

Supported by Nigerian Police aviation assets, troops reportedly intercepted fleeing suspects attempting to relocate toward the border areas of Niger and Kwara States.

During the operation, security forces successfully dismantled a suspected camp linked to the group and cleared an illegal mining site.

The suspects were engaged at multiple locations, including the Aleke community, where troops encountered members of the group, leading to the recovery of four motorcycles and the arrest of one suspect.

The arrested individual and recovered items remain in military custody pending further investigation and appropriate legal action.

In a related development, troops of the 12 Brigade stationed at the Obajana Checkpoint Patrol Base in Lokoja Local Government Area of Kogi State rescued two kidnap victims who escaped from their captors.

Military sources stated that the victims were intercepted at approximately 1:30 p.m. on June 17 after fleeing captivity during a clearance operation targeting the camp of a suspected terrorist identified as Kachallah Danguntu.

The victims were promptly evacuated to the 12 Brigade Medical Centre, where they received medical care and were placed under observation.

Security officials further disclosed that ongoing efforts are focused on tracking down members of the fleeing criminal network and dismantling any remaining hideouts within the area.

Authorities reiterated their commitment to maintaining sustained pressure on criminal elements and enhancing security operations aimed at restoring peace and stability across affected communities.
