Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY), have rescued three kidnapped victims and foiled a terrorist mission during separate operations in Zamfara State, recording another significant success in the ongoing fight against terrorism and banditry in the North-West region.

According to a statement by the Media Information Officer of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the operations led to the recovery of a high-calibre weapon, ammunition, motorcycles, military accoutrements and other operational items. The achievements were recorded as part of sustained efforts by troops to dismantle terrorist networks and improve security across the region.

The statement disclosed that on June 22, 2026, troops conducting a routine offensive patrol in Bagega, Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State, rescued three female kidnap victims who were abandoned by their captors due to sustained military pressure. The victims were identified as 28-year-old Zainab Muhammadu from Gara Zaima Village in Bukkuyum Local Government Area of Zamfara State, alongside 20-year-old Hafsat Ibrahim and 17-year-old Halira Usman, both from Mashiga/Taka Lafiya Village in Zuru Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

The victims, who had spent approximately three months in captivity, were immediately evacuated for medical evaluation and necessary care following their rescue. Military authorities noted that the successful operation underscores the effectiveness of ongoing offensive operations against terrorist and criminal elements operating within the North-West.

Operation FANSAN YAMMA reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property across the region, assuring residents that troops will continue to sustain pressure on terrorists, bandits and other criminal groups until lasting peace, security and normalcy are fully restored throughout the North-West.
