Troops of Operation Enduring Peace have confirmed the discovery of the body of a community leader, Mr. Joshua Bulus, aged 62, in Dyein village, Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Military sources disclosed that troops of Operation Safe Haven responded to a report of a corpse found on the outskirts of the community in the early hours of June 3.

According to the sources, troops arrived at the scene at about 8:15 a.m. and discovered the lifeless body of the deceased, who served as the Mai-Anguwa (village head) of Dyein.

The sources said the victim was found with machete-inflicted injuries, indicating a violent attack.

Preliminary findings suggested that the deceased had been on routine night vigilance duty within the area before he was allegedly attacked by unknown assailants.

Security officials suspect that unidentified criminal elements may be responsible for the killing, although investigations are still ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The sources added that efforts had been intensified to track down and apprehend those behind the attack.

They further stated that troops remain deployed across the general area to prevent further incidents and reassure residents.

Authorities noted that the security situation in the area remains under close monitoring as operations continue to maintain peace and stability.
