Troops of 17 Brigade, supported by Special Forces of 8 Division, have conducted an offensive operation to clear suspected criminal hideouts in parts of Katsina State.
Military sources said the operation was carried out at about 2:05 p.m. on June 19 in Kogari, Nagalawa and Nasarawan Gabbas villages in Matazu Local Government Area of the state.
According to the sources, the troops cleared the affected communities and conducted further exploitation operations through the surrounding forest fringes to deny criminals freedom of movement.
During the operation, troops recovered the corpses of two kidnapped victims within the general area.
The remains were evacuated to the Federal Teaching Hospital, Katsina morgue for preservation and further procedures.
Security sources said clearance operations were ongoing in the area as troops intensify efforts to rid the region of criminal elements.
