Troops of the Nigerian Army have recorded further operational successes in Edo State with the arrest of a suspected kidnapper and a suspected military impostor during separate security operations in Ovia North-East and Ovia South-West Local Government Areas.
Military sources disclosed that troops of 4 Brigade apprehended a suspected kidnapper during a patrol and intelligence-led operation at Mango Hausa Quarters in Igo Community, Ovia North-East Local Government Area.
The suspect was arrested at about 3:03 p.m. on June 17. Items recovered from him included a mobile phone, the sum of N3,000, and other sundry items.
The suspect and the recovered exhibits are currently in military custody pending further investigation and necessary action.
In a related development, troops of 12 Brigade operating under Operation WABAZIGAN and deployed at Okomu arrested a suspected impostor during a routine patrol in Iguobazuwa Community, Ovia South-West Local Government Area.
According to military sources, the suspect was apprehended at about 12:00 noon on June 17 after he was allegedly found impersonating a member of the Nigerian Army.
Items recovered from the suspect included a Nigerian Army identity card, a camouflage face cap, two mobile phones, and the sum of N1,800.
The suspect and the recovered items have been taken into military custody for further investigation and subsequent action.
Authorities said the arrests underscore the commitment of the Nigerian Army to combating kidnapping, impersonation, and other security threats, while maintaining peace and securit across Edo State.
