Troops of Sector 2, Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), in collaboration with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) Tactical Team, have arrested a suspected gunrunner in Nasarawa State.
Military sources said the operation was conducted at about 2:50 p.m. on June 17 following credible intelligence on suspected arms traffickers hibernating in Agwatashi community, Obi Local Government Area.
According to the sources, troops mobilised to the location where one suspect was apprehended without resistance.
A search of the suspect led to the recovery of 300 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.
The suspect and recovered ammunition were subsequently handed over to the ONSA Tactical Team for further investigation and necessary action.
Security sources said efforts were ongoing to dismantle arms trafficking networks operating within the region.
