The visit of the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division, Nigerian Army and Commander, Sector 2 Joint Task Force (North West), Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Major General Bamidele Koughna, to frontline troops in Shinkafi and Isa Local Government Areas of Sokoto State was more than a routine inspection—it was a strategic assessment aimed at strengthening ongoing military operations against terrorists and bandits.
By visiting troops on the frontline, the GOC obtained first-hand information on the security situation, received operational briefings, and assessed the challenges confronting soldiers in the field. This allows senior commanders to make informed decisions, improve operational planning, and deploy resources where they are needed most.
The inspection of the CCTV surveillance system at the Forward Operating Base in Jangeru also highlights the Nigerian Army’s growing reliance on technology to monitor terrorist movement routes, enhance intelligence gathering, and improve response time during operations.
Beyond operational planning, such visits serve as a major morale booster for troops, demonstrating that their sacrifices are recognised and that military leadership remains actively engaged in their mission.
