The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with a culpable homicide and suspected armed robbery case in Gwaram Town, Alkaleri Local Government Area of the state.
According to the Command’s spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, the breakthrough followed an investigation into a report initially lodged at the Alkaleri Divisional Police Headquarters on March 7, 2026.
The first suspect, 25-year-old Alhaji Muhammad Umar, popularly known as “Jijji,” was apprehended on June 19, 2026, while allegedly in possession of a motorcycle belonging to the deceased victim.
Police investigations revealed that the motorcycle was linked to the homicide case, prompting further interrogation of the suspect. During questioning, Umar reportedly identified two other accomplices involved in the crime.
Acting swiftly on the information, detectives arrested 45-year-old Usman M. Gidado and 35-year-old Danladi Yakubu, also known as “Pagaj,” both residents of Gwaram Town in Alkaleri LGA.
The stolen motorcycle was recovered during the operation and has been retained as an exhibit.
The Police Command disclosed that the three suspects and the recovered exhibit have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Bauchi for comprehensive investigation and possible prosecution.
Commending the operatives for their professionalism and diligence, the Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Command, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to combating violent crimes and ensuring justice for victims.
He assured residents that the police would continue to intensify efforts to maintain law and order across the state while bringing criminal elements to justice.
