United States President Donald Trump has commended the successful joint counterterrorism operation conducted by the Nigerian Armed Forces in collaboration with the United States military, which reportedly led to the elimination of notorious ISIS senior commander, Abu-Bilal Al-Manuki, also known as Abu-Mainok.
Reacting to the development, Trump praised the courage, professionalism, and coordination demonstrated by troops from both countries, describing the operation as a strong example of international cooperation in the fight against global terrorism.
He reiterated the commitment of the United States to supporting Nigeria and its regional allies in confronting extremist threats and promoting stability across the Lake Chad Basin and the wider West African region.
Earlier, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had hailed the operation as a major breakthrough in ongoing counterterrorism efforts, while expressing appreciation to Trump for his leadership and continued support to Nigeria’s security operations.
According to security sources, the overnight precision strike targeted a terrorist enclave in the Lake Chad Basin, where Abu-Bilal Al-Manuki and several of his lieutenants were reportedly neutralised during the coordinated operation.
Security analysts noted that the development represents another significant step toward dismantling terrorist command structures and disrupting extremist activities within the region.
