Police Commissioner, Delta Chief Judge Seek Stronger Justice Collaboration

The Commissioner of Police in Delta State, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, has called for stronger collaboration between the Police and the Judiciary to enhance justice delivery and sustain peace across the state.

CP Oyeniyi made the call on Tuesday during a courtesy visit to the Chief Judge of Delta State, Hon. Justice Theresa Obiajulu Ogochukwu Diai, as part of efforts to deepen institutional cooperation in the fight against crime and criminality.

The police commissioner noted that the Police and the Judiciary occupy critical positions within the criminal justice system and must continue to work together in the interest of justice, fairness, and the rule of law.

He acknowledged that operational challenges may occasionally arise within police activities but stressed that such issues should not create division between both institutions, warning that criminals often exploit gaps and misunderstandings within the justice system.

According to him, sustained cooperation and mutual understanding between the Police and the Judiciary remain essential to reducing crime and maintaining public safety in Delta State.

CP Oyeniyi also commended the cordial relationship existing between the Delta State Police Command and the Judiciary, describing it as vital to effective prosecution and law enforcement.

Responding, the Chief Judge of Delta State, Hon. Justice Theresa Obiajulu Ogochukwu Diai, appreciated the commissioner for the visit and expressed confidence that his leadership style would further strengthen the relationship between both institutions and improve the administration of justice in the state.

The visit featured discussions on security concerns, prosecution processes, judicial procedures, and other measures aimed at strengthening institutional collaboration for a safer Delta State.
