The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Olufemi Oluyede, has extended warm felicitations to personnel and civilian staff of the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN), their families, and all Nigerians on the occasion of the 2026 Eid-El-Kabir celebration.
In a goodwill message released to mark the Islamic festival, General Oluyede said Eid-El-Kabir symbolizes sacrifice, faith, and obedience as demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim, noting that the values remain timeless lessons for humanity.
The CDS stressed that love for country, sacrifice for one another, and commitment to peace and unity are essential virtues needed to foster harmony, stability, and prosperity in Nigeria.
He paid glowing tribute to troops of the Armed Forces currently engaged in various operations across the country, commending their courage and sacrifices in defending the nation against insecurity.
General Oluyede prayed for divine strength, protection, and victory for the troops, while also appreciating the support and collaboration of security and intelligence agencies working together to address the nation’s security challenges.
He further expressed gratitude to Nigerians for their continued prayers, trust, and support for the military, assuring citizens that the Armed Forces, operating within a Whole-of-Government Approach, remain committed to restoring lasting peace and security across the country.
The CDS also appreciated the support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing his commitment to the Armed Forces as unwavering.
According to him, under the leadership of President Tinubu, Nigeria would continue to thrive in unity, prosperity, and safety.
General Oluyede concluded by wishing all Nigerians a peaceful and blessed Eid-El-Kabir celebration while praying for continued progress for the Armed Forces of Nigeria and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
