The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has dismissed as misleading reports circulating on social media alleging an influx of Fulani herdsmen into Anguwan Dobi in Gwagwalada Area Council and warning of an imminent security threat in the area.
In a press release issued on Friday, the Command said it swiftly deployed operatives to the community and surrounding areas after the videos and reports surfaced online.
According to the police, officers conducted assessments and investigations within the affected area but found no unusual gathering, suspicious movement, or individuals matching the claims made in the reports.
The Command, however, stated that investigations were still ongoing to fully ascertain the facts surrounding the situation, while assuring residents that security agencies were closely monitoring developments in the area.
Residents were urged to remain calm and continue their lawful activities without fear or apprehension.
The police also reiterated their commitment to protecting lives and property across the FCT and advised members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities or movements to the nearest police station.
The Command provided emergency contact lines for residents to report security concerns: 08032003913 and 08061581938.
