The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, has been honoured with the Award of Excellence by the Nigerian Institute of Physics for his leadership, professional achievements, and contributions to national security and technological advancement.
The award was presented during the Institute’s 47th Annual Conference held at Lead City University under the theme: “Smart Physics: A New Perspective for Technological Advancement.”
President of the Nigerian Institute of Physics, Professor Joseph Coker, described Air Marshal Aneke’s appointment as the 23rd Chief of the Air Staff as a recognition of competence, professionalism, and intellectual depth. He noted that the CAS, a Physics graduate of the Nigerian Defence Academy, has effectively applied analytical and problem-solving skills in addressing Nigeria’s security challenges.
Coker also commended the Air Chief for his transformational leadership in ongoing efforts to combat insecurity, stressing the importance of physics and technological innovation in national development.
Represented by the Chief of Civil-Military Relations, Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, the CAS expressed appreciation for the honour, stating that physics remains essential in shaping precision, logic, and sound decision-making in military operations.
He added that the Nigerian Air Force continues to apply scientific principles such as aerodynamics, thermodynamics, and electromagnetism to enhance operational effectiveness and safeguard Nigeria’s territorial integrity.
