Troops of Sector 6, Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), have discovered two excavators set ablaze in Sabon Gida community, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State, following a suspected militia attack.
Security sources said the discovery was made at about 6:10 a.m. on April 27 during follow-up operations by troops deployed to the area.
According to the sources, the heavy-duty equipment was allegedly destroyed by armed Fulani elements during an earlier attack on the community, heightening tensions among residents.
Troops have since sustained offensive and confidence-building operations in the area to restore calm and reassure locals of their safety.
The sources added that patrols and surveillance have been intensified to prevent further attacks and stabilise the affected community.
