Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have recorded significant successes in renewed offensive operations under Desert Sanity V, neutralising several terrorists and dismantling key enclaves in coordinated ground and air assaults across parts of Borno State.
The operations, conducted by Sector 2 troops in the Timbuktu and Bulabulin forest axes with support from the Air Component Command, targeted known terrorist strongholds and logistics hubs. In the Bulabulin Forest axis, troops—working alongside the Sector 2 Stabilisation Force and the Civilian Joint Task Force—cleared multiple enclaves in Mar, Subdu, Yaro Lawanti and Yaro Shuwari, as well as surrounding areas.
During the clearance operation, troops engaged insurgents at Malam Shiri Village in a tactical flanking manoeuvre, neutralising 11 terrorists, while others fled with injuries. Subsequent exploitation led to the destruction of terrorist life-support structures and the recovery of nine AK-47 rifles, three PKT anti-aircraft machine guns, five motorcycles, assorted ammunition, and materials used for improvised explosive devices.
In a separate but coordinated operation along the Wajiroko–Sabongari corridor in the Timbuktu axis, troops made further contact with insurgents and decisively engaged them with close air support. At least seven terrorists were confirmed neutralised, while additional casualties were indicated by blood trails and other signs on the battlefield. Recovered items included AK-47 rifles, rocket-propelled grenade tubes, large quantities of ammunition, bandoliers, and communication equipment.
Air support played a critical role in both operations, providing real-time intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance that enabled precise targeting. Nigerian Air Force aircraft also carried out interdiction strikes on identified terrorist positions and fleeing fighters, contributing to the overall success of the missions.
Troops have since launched follow-up exploitation operations across the Forfor, Multe and Wajiroko axes to pursue fleeing insurgents and prevent any regrouping, as the military sustains pressure on terrorist elements in the North-East theatre.
