The Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV), Lagos State Command, has flagged off its 2026 sensitisation programme aimed at discouraging cultism, drug abuse and other social vices among students.
The initiative, themed “Say No to Cultism and Drug Abuse,” commenced on Tuesday, March 4, 2026, with a sensitisation event held at Sanngo Senior Secondary School.
In a press statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, said the programme was organised with the approval of the Commissioner of Police, CP Olorundare Jimoh, as part of ongoing efforts to engage young people and promote positive values within schools.
Students from Sanngo Senior Secondary School, Dairy Farm Secondary School, Yewa Secondary School and Unity Secondary School participated in the event, including students with special needs.
The programme also drew representatives from Educational District I, the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) and the leadership of POCACOV in Lagos State.
Speaking during the sensitisation session, the Lagos State POCACOV Coordinator, SP Olivia A. Ugochukwu, urged students to stay away from cultism, drug abuse and other negative behaviours that could derail their future.
She emphasised that the decisions young people make today would significantly shape their live
s and future opportunities.
Also speaking, Mrs. Olabode Oguntoye of the Directorate of Gender and Vulnerable Groups encouraged the students to remain focused on their education, maintain good character and avoid peer pressure that could lead them into criminal activities.
The sensitisation programme forms part of broader police community engagement efforts to educate students and strengthen collaboration with schools in preventing youth involvement in crime and other social vices.
