The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, has unveiled a five-year strategic roadmap aimed at strengthening the Corps’ operational capacity, professionalism and national impact.
The roadmap was presented during a high-level strategic meeting with senior officers at the commencement of his second tenure, setting the tone for what the Corps described as a more professional, innovative and responsive organisation.
In a statement issued by the National Public Relations Officer of the NSCDC, Assistant Commandant of Corps Babawale Afolabi, the Commandant General said the new strategic direction is designed to enhance effective service delivery and position the Corps to better respond to Nigeria’s evolving security challenges.
Reflecting on his first tenure, Professor Audi highlighted several key initiatives introduced under his leadership to broaden the operational scope of the NSCDC and improve inclusivity.
According to him, these initiatives include the Female Strike Force, Safe School Initiative, Mining Marshal and the Special Intelligence Squad, which he said have significantly strengthened the Corps’ presence in critical areas of national security.
He also noted that his administration prioritised staff welfare and institutional reforms, leading to improved morale, a more structured training system and clearer career progression for personnel.
Looking ahead, the NSCDC boss stressed the urgent need to deepen technology-driven operations, noting that modern security threats require smart, intelligence-led responses.
He explained that increased deployment of technology would not only improve operational efficiency but also reduce exposure to hazards and minimise risks to personnel in the field.
In line with that vision, Professor Audi distributed operational wears, surveillance equipment and technological gadgets to commands across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
He said the distribution is intended to enhance operational readiness, improve service delivery and build a stronger organisational culture capable of giving the Corps a distinct and respected identity within Nigeria’s security architecture.
Professor Audi also expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the confidence reposed in him through his reappointment for a second tenure.
He commended the President for sustained support toward strengthening the Corps, particularly in the areas of technological advancement and institutional development.
Reaffirming his priorities for the second phase of his administration, the Commandant General said professionalism, discipline and accountability would remain at the heart of the Corps’ operations.
He added that his leadership would continue to focus on strengthening public confidence in the NSCDC’s capacity to protect critical national assets and infrastructure.
The strategic engagement, according to the Corps, reflects a renewed commitment to building a technologically advanced, highly disciplined and forward-looking NSCDC capable of effectively addressing Nigeria’s changing security landscape.
