The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) and the Nigerian Communications Satellite (NIGCOMSAT) Limited have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening collaboration aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s air and space domain security through advanced technology and satellite-enabled capabilities.

This was disclosed when the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, received the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NIGCOMSAT Limited, Mrs. Jane Nkechi Egerton-Idehen, during a courtesy visit to the Headquarters Nigerian Air Force on Wednesday, 11 March 2026.

Air Marshal Aneke said the engagement highlights the growing relevance of space-based technologies in modern military operations, noting that satellite communications and data-driven intelligence have become vital tools for enhancing operational efficiency and national security.

The Chief of the Air Staff commended NIGCOMSAT for its pioneering role in satellite communications and its contributions to national development, describing the organisation as a critical partner in advancing Nigeria’s security architecture.

He reiterated that the NAF remains guided by his Command Philosophy of building and sustaining a highly motivated, professional and mission-ready force capable of delivering decisive airpower in synergy with surface forces.

According to him, expanding cooperation with NIGCOMSAT will support key operational priorities of the Air Force, particularly in areas such as secure satellite communications for operations and training, improved real-time situational awareness through satellite imagery and data, and enhanced capacity-building in communications technologies.

He also stressed the importance of adopting innovative technological solutions that would strengthen mission readiness and promote seamless inter-agency operational integration.

Air Marshal Aneke emphasised that practical and results-oriented partnerships are essential to improving operational precision and effectiveness across Nigeria’s air and space domains.

In her remarks, Mrs. Egerton-Idehen expressed appreciation for the reception accorded her team and reaffirmed NIGCOMSAT’s commitment to supporting the Nigerian Air Force with secure, reliable and innovative satellite-enabled solutions tailored to defence and national security needs.

She noted that closer collaboration with the NAF aligns with NIGCOMSAT’s mandate to provide resilient communication infrastructure for critical national institutions.

Both leaders expressed optimism that sustained engagement between the two organisations would translate into tangible outcomes capable of enhancing operational coordination, technological advancement and national security.
