The Lagos State Police Command has announced heightened security measures across the state ahead of the Eid-il-Fitr celebrations, with the deployment of robust manpower, operational assets and intelligence resources to ensure safety before, during and after the festivities.

In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, the Command said the security operation was ordered by the Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, in line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu.

According to the statement, the security arrangement combines conventional police officers, tactical teams and intelligence operatives, supported by an enhanced intelligence-gathering network aimed at identifying and neutralising threats to public peace during the festive period.

The Command also disclosed that Marine Police personnel have been mobilised to intensify patrols along waterways to prevent criminal infiltration and ensure security in riverine areas.

To maintain visibility and order across the state, Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and Heads of Tactical Units have been directed to sustain routine patrols and strengthen police presence in communities, particularly in busy and vulnerable locations.

The statement added that officers on duty have been instructed to remain professional, courteous and firm while carrying out their responsibilities.

As part of efforts to ease movement during the celebrations, the Command said a significant number of personnel have also been deployed for traffic control on major highways, inner roads and other congestion-prone areas across the state.

The Lagos Police Command further assured residents and visitors of adequate security coverage at Eid prayer grounds, mosques, markets, recreational centres and other public places expected to witness large gatherings.

CP Jimoh reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property throughout the festive period and urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through the Command’s emergency lines.

The Command expressed confidence that the proactive measures would guarantee a peaceful, safe and hitch-free Eid-il-Fitr celebration across Lagos State.
