The Defence Intelligence College has graduated twenty-seven (27) pioneer participants of the VIP Protection Course 01/26, marking a significant milestone in strengthening professional protective security operations in Nigeria.

The participants, drawn from the Armed Forces of Nigeria, the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA), the Nigerian Correctional Service, the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), underwent intensive inter-agency training focused on executive protection and protective intelligence.

The training covered critical areas such as risk assessment, intelligence gathering, advance route and movement planning, threat detection, protective formations, and emergency extraction procedures. The programme was designed to equip participants with the necessary skills to effectively protect high-value individuals and critical assets in both routine and high-risk environments.

The graduation ceremony, held on 6 March 2026, highlights the College’s commitment to developing highly skilled security personnel and fostering inter-agency collaboration in addressing evolving security challenges while safeguarding national interests.

In his address, the Chief of Defence Intelligence, Lt.-Gen. Emmanuel Akomaye Parker Undiandeye, noted that the security landscape is becoming increasingly complex and unpredictable. He therefore urged the graduates to embrace innovation, adaptability, and continuous learning in the discharge of their responsibilities as protection professionals.

Also speaking, the Commandant of the Defence Intelligence College, Commodore Usman Bugaje, emphasized the critical role the graduates would play in ensuring the safety and security of their principals and other high-profile individuals.

He further charged them to uphold the highest standards of integrity, ethics, and professionalism in the course of their duties.
