The Delta State Police Command has intensified its crackdown on illicit drug trafficking and cult-related crimes, arresting a suspected drug baron in Asaba and a suspected cultist found in possession of a locally made firearm in Warri.
The command said the operations were carried out as part of its proactive policing strategy under the leadership of Commissioner of Police, CP Aina Adesola, aimed at dismantling criminal networks and reducing violent crimes across the state.
In the first operation, police operatives attached to the DOPS Buffalo Patrol Team, working in collaboration with members of the Achalla Ibusa Vigilante, stormed a suspected drug hideout at the Power Line axis of Asaba on March 17, 2026, during a sting operation. The target, a suspected drug baron popularly known as “Madam Do Good,” was linked to the sale of hard drugs and other illicit substances in the area.
During the raid, the operatives recovered suspected illicit substances including Ice, Colorado, Canadian Loud, Indian hemp and tramadol. Police also arrested four identified suspects — Faith Uyaterimo, Peter Nnamani, Paul Nnamani and Abuchi Miracle — alongside three others. The suspects and exhibits are currently in custody, while investigations are ongoing.
In a separate operation on March 19, 2026, at about 12 noon, operatives of Ekpan Police Station acting on credible intelligence arrested an 18-year-old suspect, Ovie Ejeh, along Wangwe College in Warri over alleged cult-related activities.
Police said the suspect, who resides at No. 12 Agbasa Community, Warri, was behaving suspiciously when officers moved in and apprehended him. A search conducted on him reportedly led to the recovery of one locally fabricated cut-to-size single-barrelled gun loaded with two live cartridges.
According to the command, the suspect later confessed during interrogation to being a member of a cult group. Both the suspect and the recovered firearm have been taken into custody for further investigation.
The police command said CP Aina Adesola had, during the last officers’ conference, directed Divisional Police Officers and tactical commanders to adopt proactive policing as a key strategy in tackling crime, stressing that drug dealers and other criminal elements would be tracked down and brought to justice.
The commissioner also warned that illicit drug traffickers would be smoked out from their hideouts and made to face the full weight of the law.
