The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, has commended Nigerian Air Force personnel for their sacrifices and steadfastness in ongoing counter-terrorism operations, while reaffirming the Service’s commitment to sustaining operational momentum across theatres of operation.

A statement said the CAS gave the commendation on Friday, March 21, 2026, during an Eid-el-Fitr luncheon held for personnel at the Joint Task Force North West, Operation Fansan Yamma Sector 1 in Kaduna. Represented by the Chief of Communications Information Systems, Headquarters Nigerian Air Force, Air Vice Marshal DD Pwajok, the CAS praised troops for their resilience, professionalism and unwavering dedication to national security.

He noted that the spirit of sacrifice and devotion symbolised by Eid-el-Fitr aligns with the core values of military service, stressing that the Nigerian Air Force remains focused on operational readiness, personnel welfare, training and the enhancement of air capabilities. Aneke also expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his continued support to the Service.

In his remarks, the Air Component Commander, Air Commodore OA Okpara, thanked the CAS for his consistent support, saying it has boosted troop morale and strengthened operational effectiveness in the North West theatre.

He highlighted the impact of sustained air operations, precision strikes, intelligence, surveillance and rapid mobility missions in disrupting terrorist activities and restricting their freedom of movement.

Okpara said the intensified air campaign has improved security conditions in affected communities, adding that personnel remain resolute in consolidating gains already recorded in the ongoing operations.

The event featured cultural displays, entertainment and the presentation of souvenirs, further reinforcing unity, camaraderie and esprit de corps among personnel. It also served as a moment of reflection on the shared values of sacrifice, discipline and service, as the Nigerian Air Force continues to project professionalism and resolve in the defence of the nation
