VIDEO: Terrorists Release Video Showing 176 Abducted Woro Residents In Captivity

Suspected terrorists have released a video showing 176 residents abducted from Woro community in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, raising fresh concerns over insecurity in the area.

The footage, which is currently trending on social media, shows several of the captives—mainly women and children, including a nursing mother—standing in rows while an armed terrorist questioned them about where they were abducted from. Three of the women, who spoke in Hausa, confirmed that they were taken from Woro community.

In the video, the terrorists accused the Kwara State Government of misleading the public by downplaying the scale of the attack. According to the armed group, government officials allegedly stated that only between 20 and 30 persons were kidnapped, contrary to their claim that 176 people are currently in captivity.

The development has heightened fear and anxiety among residents across Kwara State, particularly in communities within the Kaiama axis, where repeated attacks by armed groups have been recorded in recent months.

As of the time of filing this report, the Kwara State Government has yet to issue any official statement in response to the video or the claims regarding the number of abducted victims.

Gunmen had on February 4, 2026, attacked Woro community, killing several residents and abducting many others. Among those reportedly killed were two wives of the traditional ruler, some of his children, and other prominent members of the community.

Security agencies are yet to provide an update on ongoing rescue efforts, while residents continue to call for urgent government intervention to secure the safe release of those held captive and strengthen security in vulnerable communities.
