The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, on 16 February 2026 paid a strategic visit to the Ministry of Defence in Abuja, where he met with the Honourable Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd).
The high-level engagement focused on critical national security issues and coordinated strategies aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s defence architecture, enhancing joint operations, and deepening inter-service collaboration among the Armed Forces.
Discussions also centred on improving operational efficiency, intelligence sharing, and sustaining the ongoing fight against terrorism and other emerging security threats across the country.
During the meeting, the Minister congratulated the CAS on his notable achievements within his first 100 days in office, commending his leadership, professionalism, and operational direction in advancing the mandate of the Nigerian Air Force.
“I commend the Chief of the Air Staff for the remarkable progress recorded within a short period. The Ministry remains committed to supporting the Nigerian Air Force and other services to ensure a robust and coordinated approach to addressing Nigeria’s security challenges.”he said
He assured the CAS of the Ministry’s continued support in providing the necessary resources and policy backing to enhance air power capabilities and overall national security.
Air Marshal Aneke expressed appreciation to the Minister for his strategic guidance and commitment to strengthening the Armed Forces.
“I appreciate the Honourable Minister for his leadership and unwavering support. The Nigerian Air Force will continue to enhance its operational readiness, strengthen jointness, and deploy air power decisively in defence of our nation.” he noted
He reaffirmed the Nigerian Air Force’s resolve to sustain air superiority, support ground and maritime forces, and contribute effectively to ongoing joint operations to secure the nation.
